If you find yourself in Andheri East near the Shastri Nagar area, you might spot our shop on Paud Road. We have been selling paints and mixing shades here for a good number of years. It’s not a very big space, so we have cans stacked up almost to the ceiling in some parts. You have to be careful walking through the aisles so you don't bump into a stack of primers. We spend a lot of our day just opening tins and showing people the difference between an eggshell finish and a glossy one. Often, folks come in with a piece of cloth or a scrap of paper and ask if we can match the color exactly. We try to match it with the machines we have, but sometimes it takes a few tries to get it perfect. The floor has plenty of colorful splashes on it from years of spills, which I think gives the place some character. Outside, the road is always packed with rickshaws and people heading to work. We usually keep the radio playing in the background to drown out the noise of the traffic. It’s mostly just me and one other guy helping out with the heavy lifting. We don’t do big advertisements or anything. Most of our customers are just people from the local apartments who need to freshen up their living rooms. We just stay busy with our brushes and rollers and keep the shelves stocked every single day.
