Qamer Bag

If you walk near the Ganesh Mandir in Dharavi, you will probably see our small place called Qamer Bag. We have been working in this neighborhood for a long time now. Dharavi is a place where everyone is doing something or making something, and we are just one of those shops. We make different kinds of bags using whatever materials we can get our hands on that work well. The street outside is always full of people and noise, but inside we just focus on the stitching. The temple is a good landmark for people trying to find us since the lanes here can get a bit confusing if you aren't from around here. We don't have any big signs or fancy lights. It is just a door and some windows where you can see us working. Sometimes we have a lot of orders and the whole place is covered in thread and fabric pieces. Other days it is a bit quieter and we just fix things that people bring in. It's a lot of sitting and leaning over the machines, which can make your back ache by the end of the day. But this is what we know how to do. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Mumbai, just a reliable one for the folks who live nearby and need a sturdy bag that won't fall apart after a week. We just keep our heads down and work.
