Pride

Pride is located in Oriental House, which is right at 7, J. Tata Road. We are very close to the Ritz Hotel and the Churchgate station, so it’s a very central spot to be in. The building is one of those older Mumbai structures with wide staircases and heavy doors. Our office has been here for a long time, and we’ve never really felt the need to move. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside because we have so many files and old records kept in the cupboards. The windows are large, but they look out onto other buildings, so there isn't much of a view. It gets very busy around here during the evening when everyone is heading to the train station. Sometimes the noise from the street comes right through the glass, but you stop noticing it after a while. We have a small pantry where we make coffee, and that’s usually where we end up talking about the news or the weather. We don't have a fancy website or a bunch of slogans. We’re just a group of people working in a classic part of the city. Most of our furniture is made of heavy wood and has been here since the day we opened. It’s a comfortable place for us, even if it’s a bit old-fashioned compared to the new glass buildings nearby. We usually leave the windows open a crack for a breeze, even if it brings in some city soot.
