Prajwal Ice Cream Parlour

Prajwal Ice Cream Parlour is tucked away in Lower Parel, which is a part of the city that never seems to stop moving for even a minute. We have a couple of big freezers and a few plastic chairs for people to sit if they want. It’s nothing fancy, just a place to get something cold when the Mumbai heat gets too much to handle. We stock the usual flavors that everyone likes, and maybe a few others if the supplier happens to bring them that week. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we worry about the ice cream melting, but the backup usually kicks in after a few minutes. It’s a lot of cleaning, wiping down the counters and making sure the floor isn't sticky from spills. Kids come in after school and they are always so loud and messy, but it makes the shop feel alive. My wife helps me out in the evenings when it gets busier with the office crowd. We don't have any big goals of opening more shops or anything like that. We just want to run this one well enough to get by. The lights inside are a bit bright and white, but it helps people see the menu on the wall clearly. We’ve been here for a couple of years now and we know which neighbors like which flavor. It’s a quiet business compared to the big offices around us, and we like it that way.
