Prabhu Ice Cream Parlour

Down here in Mulund East, things move a bit slower than in the city. Our parlour is just a regular spot on the street where we’ve been for quite some time now. We have a few plastic chairs outside because the inside is mostly taken up by the big cooling units. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but they’ve been that shade of blue since we opened and nobody seems to mind. My brother and I take turns behind the counter. Usually, the afternoons are dead quiet, so we just sit and watch the cars go by. Then around seven o’clock, the families start showing up. We don't have a big menu printed out, just the basic stuff we keep in stock. Sometimes we run out of the popular things and people have to pick something else, but that’s just how it is. Mulund East is a nice area, very residential, so we see the same people every single week. We know who wants a cup and who wants a cone before they even speak. The freezer makes a loud rattling noise sometimes, but it keeps everything cold, so we leave it alone. It’s not a big corporate setup, just a local place where you can sit for ten minutes and get out of the heat. We just keep doing what we do every day.
