Poonam Masala Mart

Poonam Masala Mart is over in Malad West, specifically at 200 Adugodi Road in the 8th Block of Valani Colony. We are on the ground floor, so it is easy for people to stop by when they are out for a walk. The shop is run by my family. We spend a lot of time preparing different spice blends that people use for their daily cooking. We have a small grinding unit in the back room that stays busy for several hours every day. The air in the shop is always thick with the scent of spices, which we have grown to love, though it can be strong for newcomers. We don't have a big corporate setup. It is just a few of us working behind the counter and making sure everything is weighed correctly. We use simple glass jars to show what we have available. Sometimes the supply of raw chilies or peppercorns is a bit short, so we have to explain to our neighbors why we don't have their favorite blend that day. They usually understand because they know we do everything ourselves. We don't bother with fancy labels or big advertisements. Most people find out about us from their friends in the colony. It is a quiet, steady business that keeps us connected to the local community. We are happy to keep things small and manageable right here in Malad.
