Plast Mould Engineers

If you ever find yourself in Malad West, near Vithalpada, you will find our shop tucked away in Chincholi. Plast Mould Engineers has been operating from this spot for a long time. It is a bit of a tight squeeze with all the heavy steel and the milling machines, but we make it work. We spend our days staring at blueprints and carving out moulds from solid blocks of metal. It takes a lot of patience and your hands always end up covered in oil and shavings by the end of the day. The guys here have been doing this for years, so they can tell if a cut is off just by the sound the machine makes. We are not a corporate giant with a PR team, we are just a bunch of engineers and laborers who like making things. The weather in Mumbai does not help much, especially when the monsoon hits and the streets around Chincholi get all muddy. We just keep the shutters half-down and keep working. Sometimes customers come in with an idea on a piece of scrap paper and we have to figure out how to turn that into a real mould. It is a lot of trial and error sometimes, but that is the nature of the work. We do not have fancy coffee machines, just a local tea stall guy who brings us cutting chai twice a day. That is what keeps us going through the long afternoons.
