Pawan Ice Cream & Kulfi

Malad West is a busy place to have a shop. We are right in the middle of everything here at Pawan Ice Cream & Kulfi. The street outside is always loud with rickshaws and people walking. We don't have a big indoor area, so most of the action happens right at the front counter. We keep the kulfi in these big metal containers packed with ice and salt to keep them from melting. It’s an old way of doing things but it works. The staff here has been the same for a long time. We know how to handle the rush when it gets dark and everyone comes out for dessert. My hands are usually freezing by the end of the shift from touching the cold molds. We don't use fancy machines for everything. A lot of it is just manual work, like pulling the kulfi sticks out and wrapping them in paper. The floor is stone and it gets wet often from the melting ice. We keep a mop handy. There’s no music playing here, just the sound of the traffic and people talking. We don't have a menu with pictures, just a list on the wall. Some of the letters are starting to fade, but everyone knows what we have. It’s just a local spot where you can get something sweet without any trouble. We like it being simple like this and our customers don't seem to mind either.
