Omaakar

Omaakar is right in the middle of the madness on Dalal Street. We are on the first floor of Lentin Chambers. It’s an old building, the kind with thick walls and high ceilings that keep the heat out a little bit. Being near the stock exchange means there is always a crowd outside. We can hear the honking and the shouting from the street even with the windows shut. Our office is pretty basic. We have a few wooden tables and chairs that have seen better days. Most of the time, we are busy with documents and local clients who stop by. We’ve stayed in this spot because it’s easy for people to find us. The elevator in the building works most of the time, but the stairs are faster if you’re in a hurry. We keep a lot of records on the shelves. It’s a lot of manual work, checking names and numbers. We don't really have a fancy sign, just the name on the door. My brother and I started this a while back. We see the same faces every day in the hallway. It’s a tight-knit community in this building. Sometimes we take a break to get a vada pav from the stall downstairs. It’s just a regular office doing regular business. We focus on getting through the stack of papers on the desk before the day ends and we head home.
