Nish Jewels

We’ve got our little jewelry spot in Vasant Vihar Complex over in Chembur East, near Shivaji Park. It’s a small shop but we keep a lot of different things in the glass cases. Most days it’s just us waiting for neighbors to stop by. We have some gold and silver pieces, and we also help people fix their broken chains or replace a lost stone. It's not one of those massive showrooms where they follow you around with a tray. We prefer it when people just look at their own pace. Sometimes we’re sitting at the back under a bright lamp, looking through a magnifying glass at a small clasp. The shop can get a bit crowded when more than three people come in at once. We have been in this part of Chembur for a good while, so we see the same faces quite often. We don't use any high-tech security, just our eyes and a heavy safe. If you need a ring resized, we can usually tell you how long it will take by just looking at it. My ledger is getting old and the pages are a bit yellow, but it still works for keeping track of things. We don't do big advertising campaigns; we just stay here and open the shutters every morning. It’s a simple business and we like it that way. We try to keep the glass clean but fingerprints always appear.
