Nikunj Buildcon Llp is run out of a flat in the Wasabi Building, which is building number 5 in the Chikuwadi area of Borivali West. It’s Flat No. 1202, so we are up on the 12th floor. It’s right opposite the Phoenix Hospital, so that’s the easiest way to find us if you’re wandering around Mumbai City. The office feels more like a home that’s been converted into a workspace, which is actually quite nice. It’s not as cold as a regular commercial building. We’ve got some desks set up in what used to be the living room, and the view from the balcony is mostly other apartment blocks. We deal with building and construction stuff, so there’s always a lot of talk about cement, steel, and labor schedules. It’s not a quiet place because there’s always someone coming or going, or the phone is ringing with some update from a site. We try to keep things simple and just focus on the job at hand. We don't have a lot of fancy furniture or decorations; it's mostly just practical stuff we need for work. Sometimes we get distracted by the activity down on the street, but mostly we’re buried in files and site reports. It’s a small, local setup where we know everyone’s name and how they take their tea. We just do our bit to keep our projects moving along in the neighborhood.
