At Nikopas Engineering Pvt Ltd, we are based in the Fort area of Mumbai. Our office occupies units 41 and 42 inside Podar Chambers, which is located on S A Brelvi Road. Working in Fort is quite different from being in the newer suburbs. The buildings have a lot of history and the streets are much narrower and more crowded. Podar Chambers is one of those older structures that has been around for decades. It has high ceilings and a bit of a weathered look that you only get with time. We do all our engineering-related work from these two rooms. It is a no-nonsense kind of space. We don't have a big reception area or any of those modern glass partitions. It is mostly just desks piled with drawings and technical manuals. Getting to the office can be a bit of a challenge because parking is impossible, so most of us rely on the local trains and then walk from the station. The neighborhood is full of banks and other old trading houses, so there is always a sense of serious business happening around us. We have our favorite local spots for a quick tea in the afternoon when we need a break from the computers. It is a very grounded place to work, and we are quite used to the noise and the rhythm of the Fort district by now.
