New Lucky Bags

If you’re walking down 90 Feet Road in Dharavi, you’ll find us at Room No. A 298. We are right across from the Himalaya Hotel, which is a big landmark for anyone trying to find the shop. This part of Saibaba Nagar is always moving, always loud. New Lucky Bags has been sitting in this spot for a bit. It’s a small room, but we pack a lot into it. We make bags of all sorts right here. It’s cramped, but we make it work. Usually, there’s a lot of noise from the street coming in. You get used to it after a few days. We don't have a big fancy office. It’s just us, some machines, and piles of material. People from the neighborhood stop in quite a bit. Dharavi is the kind of place where everyone is working on something. We just happen to be working on bags. Sometimes the power goes out or the rain makes things difficult, but we just keep going. It’s practical work. We don't do much advertising because most people just see us when they pass by the hotel. We’ve been in this 6/8 section of Saibaba Nagar long enough to know the regular faces. It’s not much to look at from the outside, just a door among many others on 90 Feet Road. Inside, we’re just busy cutting and sewing. That’s the daily life here. We don't make it sound better than it is.
