Neeraj Ice Cream Parlour

Our little shop is located on Navjivan Road in Gandhinagar, and it is not much to look at from the outside. We have a small sign and a couple of posters in the window. Inside, it is mostly just the big chest freezers and a small counter where we stand. Matunga is a busy area, but this particular street stays a bit quieter than the main roads. We spend our time checking the stock and making sure the lids are closed tight on the tubs. Sometimes the ice cream gets a bit hard to scoop if the freezer is turned up too high, so our arms get a good workout by the end of the day. We have a small radio that plays the news while we wait for customers to walk in. It is mostly people from the nearby houses who stop by after their dinner. We do not have any tables inside because there is simply no room for them. People just stand on the sidewalk and eat their cones while they talk. We have a trash can outside that we have to empty two or three times every evening. It is a simple life running this parlour. We do not have many employees, usually just one of us behind the glass. We like the routine of opening up, serving the neighborhood, and then cleaning everything before we lock up at night. The electricity bills are high, but that is the price for keeping things frozen.
