Nav Shakti General Store

Being in Andheri East means things are always moving fast, but inside our shop at Devidas Anand Chawl, it’s a bit different. We are situated on Marol Maroshi Road, quite close to K P Aurum. It’s a busy stretch of road, and we get a lot of noise from the traffic outside, but you get used to it after a while. Shop No 4 is where we spend most of our waking hours. It’s a general store, so we have bits and bobs for almost everything a person might need in a hurry. People from the chawl and the nearby apartments come in all day long. Sometimes it feels like we are more of a community hub than just a shop. We’ve got bags of rice stacked in one corner and snacks in another. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people come in at once. We don't have a lot of help, so if we are busy with a customer, the next person just waits a minute and chats with whoever is nearby. That’s how it works here. The humidity in Mumbai can be tough on the packaging, so we have to be careful about how we store things. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in Marol, just a reliable one for the folks living nearby. Our sign is a bit faded from the rain, but everyone knows where we are. It’s just a regular part of the Maroshi Road landscape.
