Nandadeep Stores

Running Nandadeep Stores in Kurla East is always an interesting experience because of how the space is set up. We actually operate out of two connected units, Lg 61/4-C and Lg 61/3-C. Having that extra bit of room is helpful, but it still feels small once you get all the bags of grain and household goods inside. Kurla is a place that never really sleeps, so there is always someone tapping on the shutter or asking if we are open yet. We spend a lot of time weighing out items or restocking the snacks that the kids from the nearby houses like to buy. The floor is a bit uneven in places, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that. We know most of the people who walk through the door because they’ve been shopping with us since they were small. It’s a family-run kind of feeling here, even when things get stressful during the festival seasons. We keep a small radio playing in the background to keep us company while we sort through the inventory. It’s not a fancy life, but we like being the place where the neighborhood comes to grab their daily necessities. There is always something to be swept or a shelf that needs straightening up before we head home.
