Unique Leather

You’ll find us at Shop Number 1 in Ganga Niwas. We are right across from Saraswati School on Tulinj Road in Nalasopara East. It’s a lively spot, especially when the school kids are heading home in the afternoon. The shop isn’t very big, so we have to be smart about how we stack the leather goods. It smells like tanned hides in here all the time, which is something you get used to after a week. We spend a lot of time at the front of the shop, talking to people who stop by. The sidewalk is always busy, and sometimes the dust from the road blows inside. We have a couple of stools for when we want to sit down, but mostly we are on our feet. We handle everything ourselves, from cleaning the floors to taking the inventory. It’s a simple setup at Unique Leather. We don’t use any complicated software, just a notebook for keeping track of what we sell. The sign outside has faded a bit from the sun, but people still know where we are. It’s a neighborhood place. Sometimes the neighbor from the next shop comes over for a chat and a cup of tea. We just keep the door open and wait for whatever the day brings. It's not a corporate lifestyle, just a local business life where we know everyone on the street.
