Vijay Laxmi Leather Works

Vijay Laxmi Leather Works is located over in Dharavi, on Kalakilla Road. You can find us at Room No. 744 A/4/6 in the Jaydeep Chs building. We are right opposite the Ongs Bldg in Mukund Nagar. It’s a lively area with a lot going on all the time. Our workshop is where we spend most of our hours. It smells like leather in here, which is something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. It’s not a large space, but we make it work. Tools are scattered on the benches and there’s usually some scrap material on the floor. That’s just part of the job. We see a lot of people passing by on the road outside. Some stop in to see what we are making. We don't have a fancy sign or anything like that. Just the name on the door usually. Working in Dharavi means there's always noise from the street, but it keeps us energized. We’ve been in this building for a while. The light in the room isn’t always the best, so we use extra lamps when we are working on small details. It’s a practical setup. We aren't looking to move anywhere else. This spot in Mukund Nagar feels like home to us now. We just focus on the leather and getting things finished on time for whoever needs them. It's hard work, but we are used to the grind of it by now.
