Our office is tucked away in Room 348 of the Sundaram Building. If you are familiar with the Dharavi-Mahim area, you know how packed it gets around Sant Kakayya Marg. It is always loud outside, with bikes and people moving all the time. Finding the right door in Sundaram Building can be a bit of a puzzle for newcomers since the stairs are narrow and there are lots of other small businesses around us. We are part of Mid Day Multimedia, so there is always some news or something happening. It’s not a shiny glass building like you see in South Mumbai. It’s an old-school Mumbai setup. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear the rain hitting the roof pretty hard during the monsoon. We have a few desks, some old computers, and a lot of papers stacked up. It’s a bit messy, to be honest. But it’s where we do our work. The chai wallah downstairs brings us tea twice a day and that’s usually the highlight of the afternoon. We stay late quite often because the work just doesn't stop. Sometimes the electricity acts up, but we just wait for it to come back. It’s just how it is here. It’s a busy, cramped, and real place in the heart of the city. We don’t have fancy meeting rooms, just chairs squeezed together where we talk things out. It feels like home after you've been here a few months.
