Ratanshi Lalji

You can find us at 56H on K Khadye Marg, inside the Rasul Jiwa Compound on Musa Killcdar Street. It's a bit of a maze back here if you aren't used to the area. Ratanshi Lalji has been around for quite some time now. The compound is full of different businesses, so there's always the sound of hammers or engines running nearby. We deal with whatever comes our way in this space. It’s a dusty place, mostly because of all the old buildings and the trucks coming in to drop off goods. I spend a lot of my time handling paperwork at a desk that’s probably older than I am. My grandfather started things, and we just kept the name because that’s what everyone knows. We don't really do any advertising. People find us because they’ve been told where to go by someone else. The street outside can get very crowded, especially in the late afternoons. Sometimes I take a walk around the compound just to stretch my legs and talk to the other shop owners. We all know each other. It’s a tight community in this part of town. We don't have a fancy website or anything like that. If someone needs us, they just walk in through the big gate and look for the sign. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady and it pays the bills. That’s enough for me. My son sometimes helps out on the weekends too.
