You can find Metalcraft Engineering & Spring Industries tucked away in Jogeshwari East. We are in the Mini Land area on Tank Road, right behind the Bank of Baroda. It is a bit of a squeeze getting larger trucks back here sometimes, especially being next to the Hitech Industrial Centre. We make springs and other small engineering parts. It is funny how many things need a good spring to function properly. Our workshop is filled with coils of wire and machines that bend them into shape. Some of these machines have been with us since we started. They make a rhythmic clicking sound that you can hear from the street. We are a small crew, mostly just local guys who have learned the trade over the years. We don't have a human resources department or a PR team. If there is a problem, we just talk about it over tea and fix it. The office is just a desk in the corner with a phone that rings more than I'd like. We keep a lot of samples lying around so people can see what we can do. It is a bit messy, with bits of wire on the floor, but we sweep up every evening. We just keep making springs and trying to get the tension right every single time. It is a repetitive job, but we take pride in doing it without any fuss or drama.
