We are located over at No. 269 Maulana Azad Road, right near the Two Tanks area. It is a busy spot. You can hear the traffic and the horns all day long from inside the shop. We have been working with leather for a long time now. The place smells like tanned hides and glue most of the time. We have stacks of material in the back and on the shelves. Sometimes the dust gets a bit much, but that is just how it is in a workshop like this. We spend most of our mornings sorting through the new arrivals and checking what needs to be fixed. It is not a fancy place at all. The floor is old and the lights flicker sometimes when the heavy machines are running. People come in from the street because they know we are here. They usually have something specific in mind. We sit at the benches and get the work done. The afternoon sun hits the front window pretty hard, so we usually keep the shade down halfway. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle leather. We keep the tools sharp and the workspace as clean as we can manage given the scraps that fall. It is hard work on the hands. At the end of the day, we lock up the front gate and head home through the crowd. It is just a part of the daily routine here at Mercantile Leather Co.
