Mars Exports

We’ve been here at Plot No.1/296 in the Sopariwala Estate for a while now. If you know Girgaon, you know how Tata Road No. 2 gets during the day. It’s usually pretty crowded, especially being so close to Central Cinema. Our spot is just one of many in this old estate. Most days start with the sound of shutters opening up all along the row. We handle exports at Mars Exports, which mostly means a lot of boxes and even more paperwork piled up on the desks. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but they’ve seen a lot of work get done over the years. We get our tea from the stall just around the corner, same as everyone else here. It’s not a fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a solid place where we show up and get through the list of things to ship out. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time backing into the lane because the street is so narrow. You just get used to the noise of the traffic and the people walking by toward the cinema. We keep the fans running all day because it gets stuffy in the afternoons. It’s just the way it is in this part of town. People stop by, the phone rings, and we keep track of where everything is going. It's a bit of a maze inside with all the crates, but we know where everything sits.
