Mars Enterprises is tucked away in Bhave Chawl at 28/1. S.M. Marg is always loud and you can hear the horns from the Kurla West station side throughout the day. Our space is small with just a desk and some old chairs that have seen better days. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint but we never seem to find the time. We deal with whatever work comes our way. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoon heat. When that happens, we just sit outside on the step and wait for it to come back. It is a good time to talk to the neighbors. Everyone knows everyone in this chawl. We have been in this spot for years. The floor is a bit uneven in the corner so you have to watch your step. We do not have a big office setup or anything corporate. It is just us doing our bit. People call us for work and we get it done. No fuss. Kurla is a tough place sometimes but it is home. The monsoon is the hardest part because the lanes get muddy and deep. We wear our old shoes then. My brother handles the phone calls while I do the rest of the heavy lifting. We do not have a website. People just find us through word of mouth. We just want to keep the shop running and make sure the bills are paid.
