Shop Number 3 in the Swamy Kuttir Building is where we spend our days. We are right in Malad West, specifically in the Kansawala Estate area. If you see Anthony Church, you are pretty much there. The shop is small, and every inch of wall space is covered with shelves holding boxes of switches, wires, and various tools. It’s the kind of place where you have to move one box to get to another one behind it. We’ve got a bit of everything, from light bulbs to heavy-duty hardware. The floor is concrete and usually has a few stray screws or bits of wire lying around. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where everything is hidden. It’s often quite busy with people from the neighborhood coming in for a single fuse or a length of pipe. We spend a lot of time giving advice on how to fix things or searching through old drawers for a specific size of nut or bolt. The shop stays open late most days because that’s when people realize they need something fixed at home. It’s a bit dusty, and the bell on the door rings constantly, but it’s home for us. We like the rhythm of Malad and the familiar faces that drop by just to say hello while they’re out. It’s just about being there when someone needs a tool to finish their work.
