Makhdoomiya Florist

We’ve been here at 2 Mahim for a long time now. Most mornings start way before the sun is even up because that is when the fresh loads arrive. It is usually quite quiet then, except for the sound of the trucks and some early tea stalls opening up. Makhdoomiya Florist isn’t a fancy place with big glass windows or anything like that. It’s just us and the flowers. We spend a lot of our day sitting on small stools, trimming stems and cleaning up leaves that fall all over the floor. The floor is almost always a bit wet because of the buckets we use to keep everything hydrated. Sometimes people stop by just to look at the colors when they are walking to the station or going about their business in the neighborhood. We know many of the faces around here since they have been passing by for years. It gets a bit chaotic during the festival seasons or when there are big weddings nearby, but usually, it is just a steady rhythm of cleaning, tying bunches, and talking to whoever walks in. We don’t really do much in the way of advertising. Most people just know where we are located. The shop is small and can get a bit cramped when we have a lot of stock in, but it works for us. We just try to keep things simple and make sure the flowers don't wilt in the heat before someone takes them home.
