I’ve been running things here at mahesh pednekar architect for quite some time now. Our small office is tucked away in B-402 over at Shivner Balaji Royale in Azad Nagar. If you know the Veera Desai area in Andheri West, you know it can get pretty busy with all the cars and people moving around. Most of my days are spent right here at my desk or out on various dusty construction sites nearby. It isn’t a glamorous job like people see on TV. There is a lot of paper everywhere and sometimes we lose our pens under piles of blueprints. My team and I mostly focus on getting the small details right so the builders don’t have to guess what we meant. Being in Mumbai means dealing with tight spaces, so we have to be smart about every inch. We don’t do big fancy presentations with lots of lights. Usually, it’s just us sitting around a table with some chai, talking about where a window should go or how to fix a plumbing issue that popped up out of nowhere. I’ve always preferred this way of working. It feels more real to talk directly to people without a bunch of corporate talk getting in the middle of it. We just show up, do the drawings, and try to make sure everything stands up straight. It’s a lot of back and forth, but that is just how the trade goes. We don't have a big sign outside, just a simple door.
