Chawla architech

You can find us in Room No 11 of the Hussain Mansion Building, over in Andheri West, Mumbai. Chawla architech is a small operation. We don't have a whole floor or anything like that, just our room where we keep our tools and our drawings. Andheri is a busy place, and being in Hussain Mansion means we are right in the thick of things. It’s a bit of a walk up to the room, but once you’re inside, it’s all about the architecture. We have been here for a while and we know the neighborhood like the back of our hand. The space is a bit cramped because we have so many files and old models lying around. We don't mind it much though. It’s where we do all our thinking and drawing. We don't have a big staff, so if you call, you’re probably talking to the same person who is doing the drawings. We keep things very basic. There’s no polished corporate vibe here. We just sit at our desks and work on whatever project is on the board. Mumbai is a tough place to build things, so we spend a lot of time figuring out the rules and the space constraints. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just draw the plans and help get things started. It’s an honest way to work in a city that never really stops moving. We just stay busy and keep at it.
