Mahavir Papad Stores

Our little store is at 68 Kalbadevi. If you know Mumbai, you know how packed and energetic Kalbadevi is every single day. We are right in the middle of all that action. We mostly sell papads and some other dried snacks that people enjoy with their meals. The shop is small and the shelves go all the way up to the ceiling. We have to use a small wooden ladder to reach the top rows sometimes. It’s been a family thing for a long time. We get our stock from various places and make sure everything is handled the right way. People come from all over the city just to buy a specific type of papad they can't find anywhere else. It’s noisy outside with the handcarts and the shouting of the vendors, but inside we just focus on our customers. We don't have any air conditioning, just a couple of old ceiling fans that hum all day long. We keep our prices fair because we want the local families to keep coming back. We don't do any big promotions or special sales events. People just know what we have and where to find us. Sometimes we sit on small stools near the entrance and chat with the neighbors when it’s not too busy. It’s a simple way to live and work. We have seen many shops come and go, but we are still here at number 68.
