Maharani Florist

We are set up in the shopping center near the Hotel Oberoi on Satellite Road. It’s a pretty busy spot, especially with the Union Bank Bhavan right there too. Being a florist means our day starts very early. I’m usually up before the sun to get the fresh flowers from the market. By the time the shops in the center open, we’re already trimming stems and putting things in water. The shop is small and always smells like a mix of lilies and roses, which isn't a bad way to spend the day. There are buckets of water everywhere, so you have to watch your step. We don’t do those super expensive designer arrangements you see in magazines. We just make nice bunches for people going to the bank or staying at the hotel. Sometimes someone needs a bouquet in a hurry because they forgot an anniversary, and we do our best to help them out. The floor is usually covered in leaves and cut stems by the afternoon, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just the nature of the business. My daughter helps out on the weekends when it gets really crowded. We’ve been in this same spot for years. Most of the other shop owners around here are our friends. It's a nice little community to be in. We don't have a website or anything, people just walk in and pick what looks good to them today.
