Mahalaxmi Flower Shop

We are over in Matunga, tucked into S/4 in R T Nagar. It’s one of those neighborhoods where everyone seems to be in a rush in the morning but slows down by the afternoon. Our shop has been part of this little corner for a while. It’s not a big place, just enough room for the buckets and a couple of stools where we sit when things get quiet. The air in Matunga always has that mix of coffee smells and flowers, especially around here. We spend a lot of time trimming stems and making sure the water is clean. It’s messy work, honestly. Your hands stay damp most of the day and you get used to the smell of crushed leaves. People from the nearby buildings come in mostly. They want something for their home shrines or just a bit of jasmine for their hair. We don’t have a website or anything like that. We just open the doors and see who comes in. Sometimes we have a lot of one thing and not enough of another, depending on what came in from the market that morning. That’s just how it works with nature. We keep things simple. No big ribbons or glitter, just the flowers as they are. It’s a quiet life most days, apart from the festivals when everything goes a bit crazy and we’re working by candlelight sometimes if the power flickers.
