Linking Road is always a mess with traffic, but we get here early before the sun gets too hot. Most days start with the delivery trucks coming in from the market. We spend a lot of time just cleaning up stems and making sure the water in the buckets is fresh. It is not an easy job because your hands are always wet and sometimes the thorns get you. Our shop at number 40 has been here for a while now. You see the same people walking to work every morning. Some stop for a second, others are in a hurry to catch a rickshaw. We just keep doing what we do. When the monsoon hits, everything changes. We have to keep the flowers dry but the air is so damp. It gets crowded on weekends because of all the shoppers in Andheri. Sometimes we don't even have time to sit down for lunch. We just eat a quick sandwich behind the counter when there is a gap between customers. It’s mostly just us trying to keep things organized. The smell of the jasmine and roses is nice, but after ten hours, you almost stop noticing it. People come in looking for something for a birthday or just because they feel like it. We try to keep things simple here. The floor is usually covered in leaves by the end of the day, so sweeping up is how we finish every night.
