About Mahakali Engineering – Engineering in Mumbai
Our workshop is tucked away in Bharat Nagar, specifically Gala Number 3. It’s right behind the E.T.O. Transport building in Charkop. If you know Kandivali West, you know this area is just row after row of industrial units. The sound of metal hitting metal is the background music here. We have a few lathes and some heavy machinery that takes up most of the floor space. There’s always a thin layer of grease on the floor no matter how much we scrub it. It just comes with the territory of engineering work. We spend our days fixing parts, welding, and trying to get the dimensions exactly right. The light inside the gala is a bit yellow, and the air smells like ozone and cutting oil. It’s a tough environment, but we’ve been here a long time. Across from us is Plot Number 3, and we often see the transport trucks lining up to load or unload. It gets very crowded during the afternoons when the deliveries happen. We usually keep the big rolling door open to let some air in, even if it brings in the noise from the street. It’s hard work, and our clothes are always stained by the end of the shift, but that’s just how a workshop is supposed to be. It’s just us doing what we know how to do, day in and day out, making sure the machines keep running for everyone.
