Mac-Well Engineering Works

You’ll find us tucked away at 14, Kartar Compound, just behind the State Bank on L.B.S. Marg in Vikhroli West. It’s a bit hidden if you don’t know where to look. The compound has several other small workshops, so there’s always someone welding or grinding something nearby. We do engineering work, which involves a lot of manual labor and using the lathe machines. The floor is usually covered in metal curls and oil drips, no matter how much we try to sweep it up. It’s a noisy place, and we usually have to shout to be heard over the fans. We don't have a fancy website or a sales team. Usually, people just drop by with a drawing or a broken part and ask if we can make a new one. We take our time with the work because we don't like doing things twice. The tea stall at the corner of the compound is where we spend our breaks, usually talking about the traffic on L.B.S. Marg or how the machines are holding up. It’s a honest way to earn a living, even if our hands are always dirty. We've been in this same spot for years and the gate still squeaks every time someone opens it. That's just the way it is here. There is always a lot to do, and we just get on with it.
