You will find us at 210 Kaliandas Udyog Bhavan, right on Sadanand Hasu Tandel Marg in Worli. The building has that classic industrial feel of old Mumbai, with high ceilings and heavy doors that have been painted over a dozen times. Inside our space, there is a lot of metal. We have lathes and milling machines that have been with us for years, and they make a steady rhythmic noise that you just get used to after a while. The air usually has a bit of oil mist in it, and everyone’s overalls have at least one or two permanent stains. We work off sketches and blueprints that get passed around until the edges are all curled up. It is not a place for suits; it is a place for heavy boots and safety glasses. Worli is a busy area, so there is always the sound of traffic outside, but once you are inside the workshop, you sort of forget about the rest of the city. We take our breaks by the window where you can catch a bit of a breeze if the weather is right. Usually, there is a pile of metal shavings in the corner waiting to be cleared out. We handle the small jobs and the big ones with the same set of hands. It is honest work, and we have been doing it in this same spot for quite a long time now. We just keep the machines running.
