Lalit Masala

You can find us over at Shop No. 57 in the Chembur East vegetable market. We are located right at Plot No.Rc/5, which is quite easy to spot if you’re coming from the Inlaks General Hospital or the Chembur East Police Station. Our shop is always busy with the sounds of the market outside. We spend most of our time among the big sacks of spices and the smell of fresh ground chili. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular shop where we do our work every day. The floors are often covered in a bit of dust from the bags, and the shelves are packed tight with jars of turmeric and coriander. We’ve been here for a good while now, seeing the same faces every week. It gets pretty loud in the mornings when the vegetable sellers are at their busiest. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the back door, but we just put a bucket down and keep going. We don’t have a big corporate team; it’s just a few of us making sure everything is weighed correctly. We like the neighborhood, even with all the noise and the crowds. It’s a practical spot to be in, right in the middle of everything people need for their kitchens. We just keep things simple and try to be helpful whenever someone walks in looking for something specific.
