You can find us at Saara Leather Exports in Kurla West. We are located in the C-Wing of Noor-E-Jehan-2, specifically in room 403 on Moreshwar Patankar Marg. Most people around here just call it Pipe Road. The whole area is always moving and it is very crowded and loud outside. When you walk into our place, the first thing you are going to notice is the heavy smell of the leather. It is a strong scent and it stays on your clothes even after you leave. We work with all kinds of hides here. Some are thick and tough, while others are quite thin. We have these heavy-duty machines for the stitching because leather is very hard on the needles. We end up breaking a lot of them during the day. The workshop is not very big, so we have to be very careful where we step. There are scraps of brown and black leather all over the floor. We make bags and belts mostly. It is hard work on the hands and our fingers get sore. Sometimes they even get stained from the dyes we use. We have been in this building for quite a while. The elevator does not always work, so we end up carrying rolls of leather up to the fourth floor. It is just a place where we get things done. We do not use fancy words. We just cut and sew.
