Kumar Travel

Kumar Travel is situated at 151 in the Shamabai Building on Kalbadevi road. If you know Kalbadevi, you know it is one of the busiest spots in Mumbai. There are people everywhere, and the noise from the street never really stops until very late at night. The office is inside an old building with high ceilings and those thick walls that keep it a bit cooler than the street outside. We have posters of different places on the walls, though some of them have faded over time. There’s usually a stack of brochures on the table and some old registers where we write things down. It’s a small space, so when more than two people come in, it starts to feel very full. We spend a lot of time talking to people about where they want to go and looking at different routes on the screen. The internet can be a bit slow sometimes when the weather is bad, but we make it work. Most of our regulars are families from the neighborhood who have been coming to this building for years. We don't have a big glass front or a fancy lobby. It’s just an office in a building where we’ve been for a long time. There is a tea stall just outside the main entrance, and the smell of ginger tea often drifts up into the room. We keep the fans on high and just deal with the flow of people coming in from the market every single day.
