Karan Shetty Photography

I am Karan and I do photography work here in Mumbai. It is a big city with a lot of stuff happening, so there is always something to point a camera at. I started out just taking pictures of friends and family, and eventually, it turned into a regular thing I do for work. I do not have a fancy studio with big signs; I mostly go wherever the job takes me. Sometimes that is a wedding, or maybe just some portraits for someone’s office. I try to keep my gear simple because lugging heavy bags around the city is not much fun. I spend a lot of time sitting at my computer afterwards, going through all the shots and picking the ones that look okay. It is a lot of staring at a screen. I am not really into those overly posed shots where everyone looks stiff. I would rather catch people just being themselves, even if the lighting is not perfect. Mumbai has some great spots for photos, but the traffic can be a real pain when I am trying to get to a shoot on time. I have lived here a long time, so I know my way around the different neighborhoods. It is a job that keeps me busy at weird hours, especially on weekends. If you see someone with a camera bag looking a bit tired on the train, it might be me. I just enjoy the process.
