Kadam Florist

We are located at Kadam House, which is pretty close to the Reserve Bank. Being in Fort means there are always people in suits walking by. It is a strange mix because our shop is full of dirt and water. Opposite the Bazaar Gate Tower, it can get very congested. The traffic on Narayan Nagar Road is always backed up. We have been here for a long time. The building is sturdy, but we keep the front open. You can see the flowers from across the street. We do a lot of work for the offices nearby. It is a lot of heavy lifting, moving crates of flowers in the humidity. My hands are always calloused from the wires we use for the wreaths. We don't use a computer for anything. Everything is written in a big red book. Sometimes the fans aren't enough when the afternoon sun hits the Vishwakunj cross road. We just drink a lot of cold water and keep going. It is a family thing, mostly. My brother handles the deliveries and I stay at the counter. We don't have a big marketing plan. We just show up, set out the buckets, and wait for the regulars. It is a noisy, messy, but good way to spend the day in South Mumbai. We are used to the noise and the constant movement of people heading to the banks.
