Jwala Engineering Company is tucked away in Madhu Industrial Estate, which is just off I.B. Patel Road in Goregaon East. If you’ve ever tried to find an address in these estates, you know it can be a bit of a maze. We are at unit number 6. It’s a tight space, packed with tools, raw materials, and half-finished projects. We don't have any fancy signage or a big front office. Most days, you’ll just hear the sound of metal being worked on and the radio playing in the background. We handle various engineering tasks, mostly stuff that requires a lot of manual attention. The air usually smells like oil and burnt metal. We keep a lot of old spare parts in wooden crates stacked in the corner. You never know when a piece of scrap might come in handy for a quick fix. The roof leaks a tiny bit when it rains really hard, so we have to move the machines around to keep them dry. We don't have a website or an Instagram page. If you want to see what we do, you just have to come down to Goregaon and look for yourself. We usually have a pot of tea going on a small electric heater. Most of our day is spent measuring and cutting, and then measuring again. We make mistakes sometimes, and then we have to start over. It’s part of the job. We don't have a big corporate structure. We all just know what needs to be done.
