Working here at a place as big as Jpmorganchase is mostly about staying on top of the never-ending pile of numbers and digital files. We do not have a specific local address to give out for this branch, but we are located in one of those large office complexes with lots of security. My day starts with logging into about five different computer systems. It is a lot of data entry and making sure the various accounts match up at the end of the shift. The office is huge and a bit impersonal, with rows and rows of identical cubicles stretching out. I have tried to make my small space a little better by bringing in a tiny plant, but it is struggling with the lack of real sunlight. We have these bright fluorescent lights that stay on all the time, which can get a bit much by the late afternoon. The breakroom is usually where we hang out to get away from the screens for a few minutes. We talk about mundane stuff like the weather or how bad the train traffic was on the way in. It is a very structured environment with a lot of rules to follow every single day. I spend a lot of my time staring at spreadsheets and clicking through different menus. It is steady work. We do not really see the big picture most days; we just focus on the specific tasks we are given.
