Jelly Belly

Our little spot is Shop 3 in the Sheron Building, over on Hare Krishna Road in Chaitanya Nagar. We’re in Powai, not too far from Thakre Hospital. Being in Mumbai, things are always moving fast, and this street is no different. The shop isn't very big, but we make use of every inch of space we have. We get a lot of people coming in after visiting the hospital or just folks living in the nearby buildings. It gets pretty humid inside during the monsoon, so we’re always wiping down the glass counters. We have all sorts of things on the shelves, mostly treats and small items that people grab on their way home. The sign outside has seen better days, but everyone around here knows where we are. We see the same faces every morning when the milk is delivered. Sometimes the traffic on Hare Krishna Road gets so backed up you can hear the horns all day long while we work. It’s just part of being in Powai. We don't have a big staff, usually just one or two of us behind the counter. It’s a bit of a juggle keeping the inventory right and making sure the floor is clean. We try to keep things simple and just focus on getting through the day's tasks. It’s a decent place to work and talk to the people who stop by for a quick snack. We just keep the fan running and wait for the evening rush.
