Jayco Engineering Works

Jayco Engineering Works is situated in Gala No A 11, inside the Khalsa Compound on Subhash Nagar Road in Bhandup West. It’s a typical industrial area where everyone is busy making something or fixing something else. Our gala is filled with machines and the smell of oil is pretty much permanent. We do a lot of engineering tasks, mostly manual work on different parts and components. There’s no air conditioning here, so it gets pretty warm in the afternoons, especially during the summer months. We usually have the radio playing in the background to keep things moving. Most of us have greasy hands by ten in the morning, but that’s just part of the trade. We don’t spend much time on the computer unless we have to check a drawing or something. People around the Khalsa Compound are friendly enough, and we often help each other out if someone is missing a tool or needs a hand with a heavy load. The road outside can get quite muddy when it rains, making it a bit of a challenge for the trucks. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a while now and have a rhythm to how we do things. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. We just focus on the task at hand and try to get it finished properly before we head home.
