J J Engineering Works

J J Engineering Works is based out of room 902 in Bhandup East. It’s an industrial area, so there are a lot of similar workshops around us. We do a lot of small-scale engineering jobs, mostly turning and milling or whatever people bring to us. The machines are old but they still work fine if you know how to handle them. It’s a noisy place with the sound of cutting metal and the smell of oil everywhere. We don't have a reception area or anyone to answer the phones, so if you call and we don't pick up, it's probably because we can't hear over the machines. We work with a small crew of guys who have been with us for a long time. They know the drills and the lathes inside out. Sometimes we take on a job that’s a bit too complicated, and we have to spend all night figuring it out, but that’s the nature of engineering. Bhandup East is a good place for this kind of work because you can find raw materials nearby without too much trouble. We don't have a brochure or anything like that. People just bring their drawings or a sample part, and we see if we can make it. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Sometimes Sunday too, if there’s a rush. The floor is always covered in metal shavings, no matter how much we sweep it up at night.
