Indian Leather Crafts

If you head down Mahakali Caves Road in Andheri East, you’ll eventually find the Nand Bhuvan Industrial Estate. That is where we are, at B51. Indian Leather Crafts isn't a massive factory, but we keep ourselves busy enough. The estate is always buzzing with the sounds of machines and people moving crates around. Inside our space, it smells like leather all the time, which I guess you get used to after a week or two. We spend a lot of time cutting, stitching, and checking the small details on the pieces we make. It’s a lot of sitting at the workbenches. Sometimes the air conditioning struggles a bit in the summer heat, but we keep the fans going. It isn’t a polished showroom with bright lights. It’s a workshop where things actually get made. We have been here for a good amount of time now and we know most of the other folks working in the nearby units. Usually, we are just focused on getting the orders ready for whoever needs them. No big speeches or fancy logos here. Just some tools, rolls of leather, and a few people who know how to use them. It can be tiring work, especially when the deadlines are tight, but we manage. Most days, we just close up the shutters and head home like everyone else in Andheri.
