Indian Leather Crafts

Our workshop is located in the Nand Bhuwan Industrial Estate in Andheri East. We are right on Maha Kali Caves Road, which is a very busy part of Mumbai. If you have ever been here, you know the traffic is always a mess. The smell of leather is quite strong once you walk into our unit at B-51. We have been working with leather for a long time now. It is dirty, messy work. There are scraps of material all over the floor and the sewing machines are loud. We do not have a fancy showroom for people to visit. Most of our space is taken up by big cutting tables and machines. The guys working here have been doing this for years and they really know how to handle the material. It is a real craft, even if the building looks a bit run down. Sometimes the power goes out in the middle of the afternoon, and we all just have to sit outside and wait. It is not a glamorous job, but we take a bit of pride in what we make. We are not a huge factory, just a medium-sized operation. We supply to different places and every day brings something different to work on. The rain during the monsoon makes the roof leak a bit, so we keep buckets handy. That is just how it goes in Andheri. It's an honest place for honest work.
