Iraniwadi is a very busy part of Kandivili West. Our place is in Ozachawl, specifically number 7, which is part of the 4th Iraniwadi lane. It is a classic Mumbai chawl setup. You walk down the narrow path and you will find us eventually. It is quite different from the big shiny office buildings you see in the magazines. Here, the space is a bit tight and everyone knows everyone else’s business in the lane. We have our computers set up and we deal with the heat as best as we can. The ceiling fan is almost always on the highest setting but it still gets stuffy. Since we are in Kandivili, there is always noise from the street, vendors shouting, and neighbors going about their daily chores. We chose this spot because it is practical and near the local market. We do not need a lobby with marble floors to get our work finished. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour, so we just take a break and sit outside for some fresh air and a chat. It is a humble office, really. We have been here at this 400 067 pincode for a long time. People around here call it the Ibm office, even if it looks like just another room in the chawl. We keep our paperwork in old metal cupboards. It is a bit of a squeeze, but we make it work together.
