Working at Hmt in Sadar Bazar means you have to get used to the crowds. Our place is at 3656, Pahri Dhiraj, and if you know the area, you know how narrow the lanes can get. Sometimes the delivery carts get stuck and nobody can move for twenty minutes. Our shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a simple storefront with a sign that has been fading in the sun for years. Inside, we have everything packed in pretty tight. We have to be careful how we stack things so nothing falls over when someone brushes past. We don't use any fancy management software; we just know where things are by memory. The guys working here have been around for a decade or more, so we operate like a family. We eat our lunch together in the back room among the crates, usually sharing whatever someone brought from home. It is a noisy, dusty environment, and by the end of the day, your head is usually spinning from all the haggling and the sound of the horns outside. We don't try to pretend to be anything we aren't. We are just a local business trying to keep up with the demand in one of the busiest markets in the city. Some days are better than others, especially when the weather is cool, but we show up regardless of the rain or heat. It's just what we do here in Sadar Bazar.
