The shop is just a small spot at 3 Andheri West. It isn't a huge operation, but we stay busy enough. Andheri is one of those places that never really sleeps, so there is always someone looking for a bunch of flowers even at odd hours. I spend a lot of my time just standing at the counter, watching the people go by on the sidewalk. The shop is filled with plastic buckets and old wooden crates. It’s not the neatest place in the world, but everything has its spot. We get our flowers from the main markets early in the morning. Sometimes they are fresh and vibrant, and sometimes they’ve seen better days, so we have to sort through them carefully. I try not to make things look more complicated than they are. If someone wants flowers, they come in, they pick what they like, and we wrap them up in some old newspaper or plastic. It’s a very direct way of doing things. The humidity in Andheri can be a real pain, so we are always moving things around to keep them out of the direct sun. My hands are rough from the work, but that’s just how it is when you deal with plants all day. It’s a steady life, and I’m glad to be part of the local community here. We just take it as it comes and try to stay organized.
